Fiber Polarity

The three polarity types, Type A, Type B, and Type C ensure proper bi-directional signal distribution.

Note: When connecting two 40G QSFP+ transceivers, use Type B Cross for the polarity. For other equipment, such as MPO/MTP-LGX cassettes, you can select any polarity based on your requirements.

FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between MPO/MTP cables and MTP cables?
A: MTP is a trademark of US Conec. Visually, there’s little difference between MPO/MTP and MTP connectors, and they‘re fully compatible with one another.

Q: Can I add a custom label to the MPO/MTP cable, such as a specific serial number for identification?
A: Yes, i7Fiber offers customization options. Please reach out to [email protected] for more details.

Q: What’s the difference between male and female MPO/MTP connectors?
A: MPO/MTP connectors come in male and female versions, referring to the gender of the connector. Male connectors have pins, while female connectors do not. For a connection, the male (with pins) needs to connect with the female (without pins). When using adapters to extend cable distance, one side must be male and the other female. Note that the MPO/MTP connector on the connecting module is typically female.

Q: Are these cables compatible with Arista equipment?
A: Cable compatibility depends on the module type and its compatibility, not the MPO/MTP cables themselves. The module‘s compatibility dictates whether the cables will work.

Q: Your website only shows UPC and APC connectors. Do you offer cables with PC connectors?
A: The PC connector has been phased out and replaced by the UPC connector. UPC is an enhanced version of the PC fiber connector with a smoother surface finish, resulting in better optical return loss. For more details on the differences between PC, UPC, and APC polishing types, click here.

Q: What’s the shortest length available for MTP/MPO/MTP jumpers?
A: The minimum length for MTP/MPO/MTP jumpers is 0.3 meters (0.98 feet).
